Debate

Description: We debated between if animal experimentation should be accepted or if it should be repealed. The winners of the previous debate (me) got to pick which side they wanted to debate for. I personally think that animal experimentation, yes harsh, but should be allowed for alot of medical purposes. The side I choose was the side that most people were certain would choose because of the intensity of the topic. We researched and got facts about both sides, so we should be able to fight fact with facts. Than we debated against the other side in front of the Mayor and A Lawyer.

Reflection: This helped me in several ways, it helped improve my researching skills, and learn two side worth of facts for a tough topic. Although it wasnt my first time speaking in public it was my first time debating and arguing in front of an audience that wasn't all on my side. I had to write notes during the debate and almost had to write a whole speech during the time the other team was arguing their point, and than had to argue against them after only around two mintues of available time. In the end we won the debate and I learned that I enjoy public speaking and aruging my points.

Poetry Project

Description: We picked a poem, but had to be one on a certain website. After we picked our book we had to read an annotate as we read, in the end we had to make a movie like presentation on our poem and present it to the class. We had to make it creative and entertaining as well as gettin the poem across with words, pictures, and music we each individually selected.

Reflection: this taught me to take my time, and use my creativity to get a main idea across. I had alot of fun doing the project and got to use the picures I wanted and a song I thought exspressed the poem using all of my own ideas. This project made me feel good becasue it was entirely my own, I was proud of it, and had a good time creating it and reading/choosing the poem.
